Speakband Privacy Policy

Speakband ("the app") is an IELTS-style speaking practice app. It records your spoken answers, and an AI gives you an estimated band score. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
Speakband is not affiliated with or endorsed by British Council, IDP or Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
What we collect
Your voice recordings. The app records you only while you answer a mock-test question. Each answer is sent to our server, then transcribed and scored by third-party AI services. The recordings are deleted right after your mock is scored, and the server deletes any left behind within 24 hours.
Transcripts and results. We keep the text of your answers, your scores and the written review on our server for up to 24 hours, so a review can be unlocked after purchase without scoring again. On your phone, your results stay in the app until you delete the app.
A device identifier. The app creates a random identifier for your device. We use it to give each device one free mock and to prevent abuse. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID.
Usage events. We record which screens and steps you reach, for example "mock started", "mock completed" or "paywall viewed", along with your estimated band, your exam date if you entered one (as days until the exam), and your target band. We use these numbers to improve the app.
Purchases. Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your card details. RevenueCat tells us whether you have an active plan, using an anonymous app user ID.
Anonymised scoring data. We keep your band scores and speech statistics (such as words per minute and the number of pauses) without any identifier or text, to check and improve how accurate our scores are.
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location or photos.

We use paid tiers of the AI services, so your data is not used to train their models. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising profiles.
AI disclosure
Your answers are assessed by an AI system, not by a human examiner. The band you get is an estimate, not an official IELTS score.
Your choices
- You can deny microphone access. You won't be able to take a mock without it.
- Deleting the app removes every result stored on your phone.
- To ask us to delete data linked to your device ID, write to the address below.
Children
Speakband is not directed at children under 13.
